When you look at the recent findings you can see that African American income has almost tripled since 1980. It has gone from $10, 764 to $29, 645. At this rate it will catch the average white persons income soon.
Although this is true the average white person still has a third more money. MLK believed equality and until the incomes are closer its not equal. These numbers still mean that white people are getting better jobs or better pay. I think that MLK dream hasn't been met but it is well on its way.
